I receive the Clipper Magazine with coupons and specials from local businesses every month or two. This includes restaurant deals, specials on siding and doors, and other home-related deals. However, there are qualifiers to many of these deals; reading the small print is necessary when redeeming a possible coupon. To create a "buzz" on these good deals, all expiration dates are within two months of receiving this Clipper Magazine. I've included some examples of what it takes to redeem these deals and coupons.
Walker Bros.
Walker Bros. (which claims to have the best breakfast on the North Shore 2019) has a 20% coupon that's available. The coupon is 20% off the total bill and is not valid on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays. In addition, the maximum discount is $10. If you want the discount, you can't visit on weekends, and no more than a bill of $50 can qualify for the discount. One coupon per table and this coupon can't be combined with other offers. If they had the best breakfast on the North Shore in '19, why do they continue to advertise and offer coupons?
The Silo
The Silo offers $3.00 off the following order of $15 or more (maximum of 20% off), excluding Fridays and Saturdays. No cash value, food only, and not valid with any other offer. The Silo used to have a $5 coupon that they offered, but now it's $3 off an order of $15 that does not fall on those two days toward the end of the week.
One thing to note about the Silo restaurant, their ad is on the last page of this flyer, so you know they spent a considerable amount advertising this $3 deal.
Wick N One
Another marketing ad question involved this restaurant offering a free appetizer with two entree purchases from Monday through Thursday only. The maximum amount on appetizers is $15. The fine print excludes ahi tuna and dine-in only and is not valid with any other discount or offer. It sounds like an attractive deal, but it is unavailable from Friday through Sunday. The offer expires on 1-27-23.
Illinois Energy Windows & Siding, Inc.
This company specializes in windows and siding and has several coupon offers. A siding winter sale will provide 25% off, but the sale ends on January 2, 2023. A windows sale states if you buy one window, you get the second one at 50% off with the same sale end date (essentially, you purchase two windows at 25%, essentially the same deal as the siding).
One side note, some consumers don't realize the ultimate price you'll pay with this type of offer.
O'Brien Garage Doors
They are advertising 1/2 off for a Garage Door Tune-up with a coupon. It's not a bad offer at first glance. Another one of their offers includes free garage door installation with the purchase of a professional garage door opener. One must realize that this is a limited-time offer, and I'm not sure how much a garage door tune-up costs, so half off is attractive, although knowing roughly the cost could help with budgeting purposes.
Lino's in Libertyville
This Italian restaurant offers 10% off a catering order of $100 with a maximum discount of $20 (the order can not exceed $200 to qualify). The other offer is $7 off any purchase of $60 or more, which is slightly over a 10% discount. However, this applies to dine-in, carry-out, or delivery but is not good on holidays. Not sure which holidays are applicable, and this coupon expires on 1-27-23, so a consumer has slightly less than two months to use this coupon.
One side note, their spinach pizza is delicious.
Closets by Design
This ad is targeted to those who need a room or entire house organized. The offer is 40% off plus free installation plus an extra 15% off. The terms and conditions state that this offer only applies to orders over $1000. It is not valid with any other offer and expires on 12-31-22. Special financing for 12 months with approved credit. These discounts may appear appealing to those who could use a little organization.
Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant and Bar
This Mexican restaurant is located in Mundelein, and their best offer is to get a 2nd entree free with the purchase of an entree, but the maximum value of this is $12 (I'm not sure of the overall entree prices). The other qualifier is this applies to dine-in only and is not valid for alcohol. For those who like Mexican food and drink, premium margaritas are only $5 on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with catering packages starting at $13.50 per person.
