I stopped by the Mundelein Crossing SuperTarget to pick up a few groceries on Sunday. As I was searching for a checkout counter, I saw they were all were occupied. In fact, each checkout lane was 2 and 3 deep with fidgety customers which is quite unusual — as you may know, Target tries hard to mitigate how long their customers have to wait in line. Within a minute or so, several checkout counters opened. Apparently, as soon as a dozen or so new customers proceeded to the front of the store, the floor manager began to call additional support to help take care of the customers ASAP.
As I was finished paying my bill, I said to my smiling checker, “It looks like Target is going out of their way to provide good service to their customers” and my checkout person said, “Thanks for noticing. That’s our intent.” Pure and simple, Empathica Service.
