Review of the Costco Warehouse Club (Critical)

Sometimes, their sales items are not on the shelf. Usually once every visit there’s an item on sale which is not on the shelf or it can’t be found.

Bananas are often very green and take too long to ripen. Hard to coordinate these with other store purchased bananas.

I shop at 4 different Costco stores and each one is layed out differently. It would be nice to be able to know where things are. General store map or scanners in various parts of the store where you can get directions to locations of certain merchandise.

Costco needs to have some knowledgeable employees available inside the store to answer questions. Often, these employees are in the front of the store so if you’re deep in the store with a question, these employees are not available to answer questions.

They need to review their hours of operation. They close on Saturday night at 6 pm. Why is that? I do not expect them to stay open until midnight but why not 8 pm on Saturday and Sunday? Our trip is 35 minutes long, so if forget they close at 6 pm on Saturday, we’ve wasted well over an hour.

Often, their veggie burger selection is quite weak. I’m vegetarian so I’m always looking to save money buying veggie burgers at Costco but their selection is poor or inconsistent. Sometimes available, sometimes not.

You’ll sometimes find items for sale in too large of packages. I’m often curious about a new product or an existing product I have not yet tried but if these items are in such large quantities, I’m hesitant to purchase. They do sample different products but this appears to be a limited scope.

I live in Libertyville, Illinois and the two closest Costco stores are 12 and 20 miles respectively from our house. We would love a store within 5-6 miles of Libertyville.

It’s hard to rely on the availability of their products. Sometimes they may have an item and sometimes not. My guess is that items with the Kirkland brand have a higher availability than other commercial brands.

Not sure why they employ analysts who check your order at the exit. Regardless of the size of my grocery purchase, never had the checkers spend more than a few seconds reviewing my receipt and grocery cart. Is this policy useful to Costco?
